Hello:
Is it possible to import "IBM DB2 UDB for iSeries .NET data provider" into
Reporting Services 2005? I tried to do it but was unsuccessful. I'm
attempting to access data on our IBM i-Series(AS/400) and I need to pass
parameters in my datasets. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
Best regardsYou can use the OleDB provider instead of the .NET for DB2 and/or DB/400.
The OleDB driver should come with your iSeries Access installer. The IBM
DB2 UDB provider is not specific to DB/400 though whereas the one provided
with iSeries Access is. I've encounter a few oddities when using the
regular DB2 driver pointing to DB/400. You can also try the Microsoft DB2
OleDB provider which can be found here:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/7/c/27c60d49-6dbe-423e-9a9e-1c873f2
69484/DB2OLEDB.exe
If you don't use OleDB or ODBC as your connection provider you will have to
create a Reporting Services Data Extension to have the .NET DB2 Provider
show up in the list.
Here are some links to example OleDB connection strings for DB2 / DB/400
you can try:
http://www.connectionstrings.com/?carrier=ibmdb2
http://www.connectionstrings.com/?carrier=as400
The connection string for the Microsoft DB2 provider should be included in
the download.

Provider to work with Reporting Services. I downloaded the DB2OLEDB provider
from Microsoft but it looks like it is only for the Enterprise edition which
we do not have. I wrote a C# program and I used the IBM DB2 UDB provider and
it worked fine. I keep getting an error "Object reference not set to an
instance of an object.

Services Work with the DB2 UDB Driver if Visual Studio 2005 works fine with
the Driver? The Drivers are a part of IBM Client Access and I have the
latest version V5R4 and this driver is the specific AS400 OLEDB Driver. I did
make the connection work with ODBC but as you know it is slower than OLEDB.
Can I get the Microsoft OLEDB Driver for the Standard Edition of SQL Server
2005? If you have the name or a link to the AS/400 specific OleDB driver you
are talking about that would be great.

Reporting Services. The driver could deviate from the OleDB spec or
countless other things. Without delving further into your problem (memory
dumps etc) I won't be able to give you much more information on it though.
You can find connection strings for the AS/400 specific OleDB provider here:
http://www.connectionstrings.com/?carrier=as400
Since you got the ODBC connection working why not at least use that in the
mean time while you try to get the OleDB working?
I'd contact IBM and see if they can give you a hand or if you need this
done quicker you can always open up a support case with us and that will
get your issue resolved much faster.

Enterprise. Not sure why this is though.
I found an article that gives you an example of how to add the .NET data
provider though.
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326409.aspx
and
This article that talks about data providers more in depth.

I am in the process to building a report using Reporting Services. The
report are invoices but I want the invoices to display one per page. I am
using a List and the report display invoice 1 , 2, 3 in the same page and I
want to diplay Invoice 1 in Page 1, Invoice 2 in Page 2 and so on... Please
advice!
Thanks,
Adolfo

DotNet GuerrillaAdolfo,
Try grouping by the invoice and then setting the group to have a page break
at the end of the group.

I want to clarify..
Can we declare any variables in the sql server 2000 reporting services?
because I need to make an array for my tables, for ex: in my database(sql
server) it has many tables like tble27,tble28,tble29,tble30.. etc. all of
the fields inside the tables are the same. every table has
name, age, sex, address. just different records. I was planning on making an
array like tble(i) so i can use the report parameter to just use the
variable for an easy access to whatever my client would prefer to view.
Also just telling me how, and where to declare variables would be a great
help, if it is possible.. advance thank you. please do help me
Diff. Question:
Also how will i access a table from database1 as my report parameter and and
view the records from database2?
--
~SiMPLe~Hi,
For your first question you should consider a stored procedure based on a
parameter which returns the proper underlying table. Then you can create a
dataset and use the sp to retrieve the data. Declare in the properties of the
dataset the mapping of the ReportParameter and the parameter nessesary for
the sp.
Every dataset you create in SRS has it's own connection. And those
connection can point to different datasources. So just create two datasources
to your servers and retrieve the information.

I need to use Sql expres with reporting services
Which ctp already includes reporting services. Do you recommend me to work with the latest ctp of visual studio and sql 2005?
Or vs 2005 beta 2 with the latest sql 2005 ctp.?
Or vs 2005 beta 2 with the latest sql 2005 ctp.?
ThanksSomebody there?? ?|||The particular CTP isn't important. What's important is the Edition of SQL Server you're using. In the June CTP you need to use Standard, Developer or Enterprise. Express doesn't have Reporting Services.

I need help please
Hello,
I started yesterday working with reporting services to get done some complex reports but I've encountered a lot troubles.
For example, I created one report and set both with and height for the body, then added one rectangle and inside of it, I dragged a Chart. Till then everything looked fine, but when I viewed the preview, my report is four page lenth and the charts appears on page 4 !!!
I've read in the newsgroups something about checking the vale of the Report.PageWith against the Body.Width, but WHERE CAN I FIND THE REPORT.PAGEWITDH ? is it withing the VS IDE '
Also, how can I add a "horizontal total" in a matrix '
I have the following layout for a matrix:
-- State (columns )
Month (rows) ... Units sold
My dataset returns these three fields
and I want something like ...
-- State (columns ) , Total Units
Month (rows) ... Units sold ...... , total units sold by month
My task is to create several reporting and each one will have several charts, lists and matrix.
Thanks
CesarSelect "Report" in the property browser. There would be PageSize property in
Layout category
Quoting from Books Online (
ms-help://MS.RSBOL80.1033/RSCREATE/htm/rcr_creating_structure_objects_v1_7vi
0.htm )
To add a subtotal to a matrix, add a subtotal to an individual group within
the matrix. Groups do not have subtotals by default. To add a subtotal to a
group, right-click the group column or row header and then click Subtotal.
This will open a new header for the subtotal. Reporting Services will
calculate the subtotal based on the aggregate in the data cell for the
group.

I need help in Reporting Services 2000 :'(
Hi, i need to know if in RS2000 i can:
1 - Change the text of the exportar link to an image or another text.
2 - Chage de arrangement of the parameters to vertical (one below another)
3 - If there is not results for the query, show a message like "There is not
results for your query, try another filters"
4- Can i add tooltips for the report parameters?
This is really important for me.
Thanks a lot.Regarding (3). I believe there is some sort of RecordCount property to a
dataset. If this is 0, then print your message.
In general, I found the parameter presentation to be a little weak. I still
think they did a good job for version 1

2 - Chage de arrangement of the parameters to vertical (one below another)
3 - If there is not results for the query, show a message like "There is not
results for your query, try another filters"
4- Can i add tooltips for the report parameters?
This is really important for me.
Thanks a lot.Regarding (3). I believe there is some sort of RecordCount property to a
dataset. If this is 0, then print your message.
In general, I found the parameter presentation to be a little weak. I still
think they did a good job for version 1
